As you can see in this undated photo of the Temple of Hera in Paestum (also called the Basilica), the frieze is completely missing. The squat, bulging columns of the peristyle, designed to bear the heavy load of the roof, are archaic in nature and there are nine across the front, eliminating any central entrance to the temple as was the case with the later style of an even number of columns.
