Acropolis - Restored

 

Most of what we see today on the Acropolis in Athens, Greece, comes from the Golden Age of Athens under the leadership of Pericles (460-430 BCE). Much had been destroyed during the war with Persia so a major reconstruction effort was undertaken by the sculptor Phidias and the architicts Ictinus and Callicrates. During this time the final shape and layout of the Acropolis really took form.
