One of the most interesting but also easily missed archaeological sites in Athens, Greece, is the Theater of Dionysus. Located on the southeastern slope below the Acropolis, it is also one of the most complex archaeological sites in the city because its history spans as many as nine centuries, creating multiple layers of construction, reconstruction, and use.
