There were only three individuals whom Aphrodite could not tempt or deceive: Hera, Athena, and Artemis, the three goddesses who had committed themselves to eternal virginity. They were essentially immune from her temptations or her effects and as such were able to see right through what she was doing to others. Aphrodite's favorite pastime appears to have been the incitement of passion and love among both mortals and immortals - usually for each other, causing no end of problems.
