This is an evolving document. It is currently under construction and is placed here mainly to hold the spot while we work on it. We'll be adding references and links in the next few weeks.
Books:
Evolution, 1999, Colin Patterson.
An excellent, up-to-date, introductory text on evolution.Evolution 2nd ed. , 1996, Mark Ridley.
700 something page college level textbook on evolution. An excellent resource but a little more detailed than some people might want. Comes with a neat CD ROM that includes video comments from famous evolutionists, text of classic papers, simulations of evolutionary processes and a tutorial with tests.Science and Creationism, 1984, Montagu (editor).
A collection of essays on evolution and creationism published shortly after, and largely in response to, the Arkansas "equal treatment" trial. Some material is slightly dated but it is still a worthwhile read as an introduction to the issues involved in the evoltuion-creationism controversy.Wonderful Life, 1989, Stephen Jay Gould.
A detailed examination of the Burgess Shale, a limestone quarry formed some 530 millions years ago and a treasure trove of fossils. Contains some general information on evolution and is written by one of the major proponents of the theory of puncuated equilibria. The Blind Watchmaker, 1996, Richard Dawkins.
A good introductory book on evolution as well as an entertaining read. As you might suspect from the title the author has more on his agenda than simply describing evolution. The book is also an argument against design in the universe as the subtitle, "Why the Evidence of Evolution Reveals a Universe Without Design" makes clear.
