There are plenty of people who get annoyed when Jehovah's Witnesses come knocking at the door, attempting to sell their religion. Their theology is odder than most, and their practices are not very different. But before you judge them too harshly, it is worth keeping in mind that they have played a key role in the development of religious liberty for everyone in America, not just themselves.

Overview
What has their role been, and why have they been singled out by the majority for religious discrimination?

Public Evangelization
In what ways have Jehovah's Witnesses had to fight for the right to evangelize? Why and how have they been restricted in being able to make their views known to the public?

Pledging the Flag (history)
Why have Jehovah's Witnesses refused to have their children to say the Pledge of Allegiance at public schools? How were the children treated, and what happened in the various court cases?

Pledging the Flag (aftermath)
Although the Jehovah's Witnesses won a legal victory with regards to their children saying the Pledge of Allegiance in schools, the public hated them for it and they suffered greatly.

Court Cases: Summaries
