Christianity is deeply in debt to older mythologies for a lot of its beliefs and ideas - not that you'd ever hear that admitted. Most Christians don't even seem to realize it at all. This list of links will give you a lot of information on figures like Mithras, Krishna, Adonis, Osiris and more.

Easter & Christianity
In Christianity, the Easter celebration is held to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, an event which Christians believe happened three days after he was buried, having been crucified by Roman authorities just outside of Jerusalem. Easter takes place at the same time as Jewish Passover and, as such, is not a fixed date on the calendar but instead moves around.

Adonis
Information about the Greek fertility god who regularly dies and returns to life - the connection to Jesus should be obvious.

Baal
This Caananite god regularly died and came back to life in ancient mythology. His name means "Lord" and he was the son of El, whose name "God."
