Daily Poll: Should We Believe People Today Who Claim God Commands Them to Kill?

Friday June 30, 2006
It seems to happen regularly that someone is accused of murder or attempted murder and they insist that God told them to act. No one believes them, but many people believe similar stories recounted in the Bible. Is this a contradiction? If people believe what the Bible says, shouldn't they at least give the benefit of the doubt to such people today?

No, because people who believe superstitious fallacies should not be in a position to make these decisions.

(2) Razor says:

When you don’t have “God in your heart”, you can get evil spirits by heavily drinking or doing drugs.
It’s the loud voice in your head that doesn’t follow thought.
A good test would be to find someone and tell them you have a church question to ask them. Then ask “Would you consider going back to church ?”
If they answer in less than two seconds, they have an evil spirit or someone asked that question within the last week. The answer will pop in your mind fast and loud. If you have to think about it, you don’t have one.

God/Holy spirit is the other end of the spectrum. The closer I get to God, the more He talks. Thoughts of eliminating sin and solutions to extremely hard problems become very frequent. Those thoughts just pop right in.

Does it benefit God or does it benefit you?

If the guy said “I really didn’t want to do it but I had no choice. You can do what you want to do to me because I trust that God will make good come out of it.” I might buy that.

(3) Warrior for Christ says:

All atheists are demon possessed because no one would reject God. We all know God exists. It’s the demons that rejected God and plague humanity with thier scewed, twisted, and hateful view of God by possessing people. Atheist need to repent and have Jesus come in your heart or you are going to burn in hell for your blasphemy. But no one wants to believe what they know is true, so when you are burning in hell, see if I care. It’s what you deserve.

All Christians are demon possessed because no one would reject Allah. We all know Allah exists. It’s the demons that rejected Allah and plague humanity with thier scewed, twisted, and hateful view of Allah by possessing people. Christians need to repent and have Mohammed come in your heart or you are going to burn in hell for your blasphemy. But no one wants to believe what they know is true, so when you are burning in hell, see if I care. It’s what you deserve.

‘Nuff said?

Razor, your post is absolute NONSENSE. Where do religious people come up with this stuff? Was this information conveyed to you through your religious hierarchy (pastor or priest)? If so they are brain washing you into irrational thinking and you are just one in their long line of sheep.
If you came up with this yourself through free thought and deductive reasoning you are a complete idiot and no wander a devout theist.
Either way if you truly believe in what you posted, you are most likely too stupid, ignorant or brainwashed to participate or interact in any conversation that requires any complex thinking and reasoning skills.

All Christians are demon possessed because no one would reject Zeus. We all know Zeus exists. It’s the demons that rejected Zeus and plague humanity with thier scewed, twisted, and hateful view of Zeus by possessing people. Christians need to repent and have Zeus come in your heart or you are going to burn in hell for your blasphemy. But no one wants to believe what they know is true, so when you are burning in hell, see if I care. It’s what you deserve.

The reality is is that the prevalence of the “moderate” religious prevents rational, blunt, and honest discussion about this sort of thing. Climate change, stem cell research, birth control methods - none of these things can be debated on merit with the religious in the majority. I’m not even talking about nut bars like Razor and Warrior here - I’m talking about the hand-wringing religious types who don’t attend church but don’t want uncomfortable questions asked about their religion, which might force them to confront its contradictions and cast doubt on their afterlife mythology.

Tell me ‘Warrior for Christ’ (the speech marks are there to express the contradiction that is evident in the name you have chosen for yourself),

Where exactly do you get the idea all atheists are possesed by demons? Does it even say that anywhere in the Bible? I suspect it doesn’t. Your ideas don’t even come from direct quotations of a fictional book, they are entirely spawned from your own hateful imagination. Have you ever left a comment that doesn’t mention how we’re all going to burn in hell? How about once, just once, you try arguing your points instead of making empty threats.
Not only do you only insult and threaten rather than argue but even in this you manage to leave comments riddled with contradictions. Allow me to elaborate.

‘All atheists are demon possessed because no one would reject God.’

Which was followed by

‘But no one wants to believe what they know is true, so when you are burning in hell, see if I care. It’s what you deserve.’

If we don’t believe in god because we’re demon possesed then why do we deserve to go to hell? You can’t even stick to your own twisted logic.

Lastly, for people possesed with demons, there are an awful lot of atheists that lead pretty harmless lives. We for the most part (and certainly no more than religious people) don’t rob, hurt, or in general do anything genuinly wrong. So it seems all these demons do is make us not believe in god. Those are some pretty lazy demons huh?

You on the other hand seem intent on spending your life attacking others for no reason at all and spreading your own ridiculous and harmful ideas (I imagine by force if you were able). Usually I don’t resort to personal insults (as unlike you I have no need to) but in your case seeing as its a mirror of something you have said so often I think I’ll make an exception. Just as you die I really hope you see that there’s no heaven waiting for a hateful waste of life like you. Now that’s a thought I enjoy.
