Fox News Embraces White Supremacy

Friday December 23, 2005
When it comes to issues like evolution, the media are always quick to present 'both sides' of the issue. When it comes to White Supremacy, Fox Carolina saw no need. They broadcast a positive piece on Stormfront, for many years a primary source of White Hate on the internet, in which no criticism was included.

Think Progress reports that the video and transcript have been removed from the Fox site, but the station insists that it wasn’t due to complaints. It’s only reasonable to conclude that they continue to stand by their promotion of dim-witted White Nationalism, a close relative to the Christian Nationalism which Fox usually highlights:

One member says, “we really are just white folks that deeply care about preserving a future for our progeny.” ... Bob Whitaker is a former Reagan administration cabinet member and an active member of Stormfront. He believes diversity and equal rights are at the center of a conspiracy against the white race. Whitaker says, “I’m worried about the disappearance of the white race.” Whitaker says too much is being done to diversify America and not enough is being done to protect people like him. “I’m worried about 2 things. I’m worried about the disappearance of the white race and I’m worried about the fact that no one is allowed to talk about the disappearance of the white race, which is even worse.”

I've written about the relationship between Christian Supremacy and White Supremacy, but it’s rare to see purveyors of the former turn and promote the latter as blatantly as this.

Let’s re-write the above, shall we?

One member says, “we really are just Christians that deeply care about preserving a future for our religion.” ... Bob Whitaker is a former Reagan administration cabinet member and an active member of ChristFront. He believes religious pluralism and church/state separation are at the center of a conspiracy against Christianity. Whitaker says, “I’m worried about the disappearance of Christian civilization.” Whitaker says too much is being done to secularize America and not enough is being done to protect Christians like him. “I’m worried about 2 things. I’m worried about the disappearance of Christian civilization and I’m worried about the fact that no one is allowed to talk about the disappearance of Christianity, which is even worse.”

There, now that’s the sort of story we usually see on Fox News stations. I think that we can all see what really happened here: someone obviously mixed up the tapes and broadcast the wrong piece. Viewers were supposed to see a piece on ChristFront and the efforts of Christians to save Christmas from secularists; the piece on StormFront and the efforts of Whites to save Whiteness from... well... whatever persecuted Whites are afraid of these days... was meant to be shown privately — like at the staff Christmas party, I guess.

It was a simply mistake. Anyone could have made it.

Jesus’ General has a nice post on this.

How very witty. It’s just a shame you easily disregard an important issue like white discrimination.

It’s even more a shame that you would leave a comment like that without supporting your insinuations.
