New Church Advertisements Appearing in Britain

Sunday September 25, 2005
The Church of England appears desperate for new members and has launched an advertising campaign that raises all sorts of emotional images - but which also have little to say about church. If a church can't be promoted without ignoring that it is a church, what's the point?

The BBC reports:

It perhaps says something about the church’s image, or self-image, that it advertises the faith without any mention of God, religion or church. There was a time when attending church was a given, and if people changed they made new choices based upon word-of-mouth. Today church has become a commodity to be marketed, airbrushed, and advertised.
