Discussion: Is Jesus a Philosopher?

A forum member writes: Someone once asked the president who his favorite philosopher was, and he said "Jesus Christ". For the sake of argument, let's assume that Jesus was man not myth and that we have no axe to grind one way or another or what Jesus said as reported in the four gospels. My question is: is it accurate to call Jesus a philosopher? What is a philosopher? I would for example say that a dogmatist is not a philosopher -- he is merely proclaiming his truth -- not asking inquiring questions. But couldn't the same be said for, say, Marx or Dewey? Are all revolutionary thinkers ipso facto philosophers? My gut reaction is that Jesus isn't a philosopher, but I would be curious to hear your views.
