Various types of vandalism have hit three mosques in the Miami area over the past days. It's possible that this is in retaliation for the deaths of Americans in Iraq, although nothing stating that has been found.

The Florida Times-Union reports:

[O]bscene graffiti was written on the sign of a center in Miami, another mosque in Miami had severe damage both inside and out and a threatening letter was left at a mosque in Hollywood in Broward County, said Altaf Ali, Florida director of the Council on American-Islamic Relations. The letter, which read "Kill them all in the name of Allah," was found at the Darul Uloom mosque Thursday morning, Ali said.

Quite aside from violence in the Middle East, the violent rhetoric of conservative and religious commentators in America has to be counted as partially responsible for what is going on. When people say that Arabs are sub-human or that Muslim leaders should be killed and Muslims all converted to Christianity, it's going to have an effect over time.
