Bombers Will "Burn in Hell"

Monday April 26, 2004
A number of Muslim clerics are tired of the terrorism committed by Muslim extremists - especially when that terrorism occurs in Muslim countries, like Saudi Arabia. The recent bombing in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has resulted in harsher condemnations than what we heard after the train bombing in Spain.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution:

Grand Mufti Abdul-Aziz al-Sheik, the kingdom's highest religious authority, condemned the attack "as one of the greatest sins." "God revealed the criminality of this wayward group, which harms Islam and the nation," he said in a statement carried by the official Saudi Press Agency. "Whoever kills an (Islamic) believer on purpose will be punished by being burned in hell, punished by God's anger and will be cursed and suffer great pain."

Apparently, killing an unbeliever on purpose isn't so bad, right? The Grand Mufti may not be aware of the fact that Muslim extremists often define those who disagree with them as not being "real" Muslims anymore, thus allowing them to disregard their lives. That, however, wouldn't be possible if Islam took a harder stand against killing infidels as well. Once it is permissible to kill members of one group, there is the risk that anyone can be re-defined as falling into that group.
