Girls Scouts Reject Moral Decency?
Hans Zeiger explains in Town Hall:
[T]he Bluebonnet Council of the Girl Scouts of America bestowed on Planned Parenthood chief executive Pam Smallwood the title of "Woman of the Year." ... Sadly, more unfortunate positions have been taken by the Girl Scouts of America in recent years than parents and supporters may realize. Rather than fight a 1992 lawsuit that challenged "God" in its Promise, the Girl Scouts broke its Promise with overwhelming support at the 1993 Girl Scouts national convention by permitting atheist and agnostic girls to use "words they deem more appropriate" in place of "God."
Let's be very clear about this: as bad as it was for a regional Girl Scouts council to make a supporter of abortion rights it's "Woman of the Year," it was even worse for the national Girl Scouts leadership to decide to allow atheist and agnostic girls alter the oath they take so that they can join the group honestly. This, according to Zeiger, is evidence that the Girls Scouts have rejected moral decency and are no longer teaching girls how to have real moral character. I guess that would be achieved by openly rejecting atheists, agnostics, and gays - teaching girls that such people can't be trusted and shouldn't be associated with.
Let's hear it for Hans Zeiger, stalwart defender of traditional American morality!
