Help Smite the Constitution

Supporters of Roy Moore and his massive Ten Commandments monument probably don't realize how ridiculous they sometimes sound when they make their calls for a Christian America. Satire can do a lot to point that out...

...but sometimes satire looks an awful lot like the real thing. This letter to Justice Roy Moore, written by Dave Perry and published in the Aurora Sentinel, is a bit too close to reality for comfort:

You are absolutely right that our founding fathers came here to make sure this would be God's country and no one else's. Lord only knows what might have happened if the Chinese had gotten here first. ... We know that those Commandments really are the law of the land, and I'm sure it's helpful for those criminals who can read English to learn that they're not supposed to covet my high-definition TV or kill anyone. That is unless that anyone is convicted by a jury of their white peers. Then they need a good smiting, even if the dumb DNA evidence comes back negative later on.

There really are people who think that way - too many of them for comfort.
