Atheist Priest Regains Faith

What happens when a priest loses his faith in the existence of God? He is removed from his post - even if his parishioners want him to return. Well, to keep his job, Thorkild Grosboell has regained his faith and so Bishop Lise-Lotte Rebel has lifted his suspension.

At least, that is what is suggested by an ABC News report. But it isn't clear if he really believes in God again or not:

Danish news agency Ritzau reports Bishop Lise-Lotte Rebel lifted the seven-week suspension of 55-year-old Thorkild Grosboell after he told her he "regretted" making statements he made in a newspaper interview in May. ...While he later said that his comments were misconstrued, "oversimplified and categorical", he had until now refused to take them back.

So, did he take them back or not? Regretting making a statement is not the same as recanting - you can regret saying something you earnestly believe, after all. We'll just have to wait to see what else is said about this...
