Secularism in Nepal

Usually the idea of secularism and the creation of a secular state is opposed by Christians, Jews or Muslims. They, however, are not the only religions that may oppose secularism - Hinduism can be found doing the same. The most recent case of this occurring comes from Nepal where there has been some discussion over declaring the country a secular state.

According to the Times of India, the World Hindu Federation (WHF) opposes any such move and a violation of the principles of democracy because 90% of the people follow some form of the Arya Sanatan Hindu religion.

Thus, we have the example of Hindus acting just like Christian or Muslim fundamentalists: if one religious group constitutes a majority in a region, then they should have the right to impose their religious beliefs on the minority and use the power and authority of the government to promote their religion.
