Opium Returns to Liberated Afghanistan

Although Afghanistan was supposed to be liberated by American forces, it seems that the more things change the more things stay the same. The poppy harvest has begun again, and that means that the lucrative drug trade which helps fund terrorists will also begin again.

Even worse for Afghanistan, however, is the fact that tens of thousands of Afghanis are becoming addicted to the plant - with potentially dire consequences for Afghan society. President Hamid Karzai is hoping that the West will help Afghanistan end its dependence upon opium, both as a cash crop and as a drug. But will that really happen?
