Governor Applies Christian Ethics; Conservatives Incensed

Usually conservatives in America are happy when Christian ethics are applied in government, but not this time. When Governor Bob Riley was elected in Alabama, he faced massive financial deficits - his solution is to have the poor pay less and the rich pay more. As a matter of Christian conscience. According to Riley:
According to our Christian ethic, we're supposed to love God, love each other, and help take care of our poor. And this is a step in the right direction.

Imagine that - instead of trying to apply the Ten Commandments and criminalize private behavior as happens so often when Christianity is used as a basis for government action, he's trying to help people. Republicans are incensed, complaining that they elected one man and now have another. Indeed - they have a Christian politician who actually takes Jesus' words seriously. That's a rarity in America.
