Did Albert Einstein believe in God? Many religious theists cite Einstein as an example of a smart scientist who was also a religious theist like them. This supposedly rebuts the idea that science conflicts with religion or that science is atheistic. However, Albert Einstein consistently and unambiguously denied believing in personal gods who answered prayers or involved themselves in human affairs - exactly the sort of god common to religious theists claiming that Einstein was one of them.

Argument by authority – the WRONG authority. Albert Einstien was smart all right, he was very good at atomic physics. But that doesn’t make him an expert on religion.

It’s the same kind of fallicious **** that advertisers use when they get a racing champion to sell you washing soap.

A fallacious “argument from authority” when someone attempts to argue for the truth of some conclusion based upon the say-so of an unqualified or illegitimate authority.

So, what conclusion do you say is being argued for here on the basis for Einstein’s unqualified authority?

Uh, there is no argument from authority here. I don’t think this article is about whether or not Albert Einstein is RIGHT about religion or god. I believe the topic was questioning whether or not Einstein himself BELIEVED in god or religion. I’m sure no one would disagree that Einstein was a good authority on Einstein.

I think a pretty good quote which should be in this article is, “The idea of a personal god is quite alien to me and seems even naive.” Can’t get much more straightforward than that.
