When John McCain announced that Sarah Palin would be his vice-presidential running mate for his presidential campaign, an unusual amount of scrutiny and criticism ensued. This is partly because Sarah Palin was an unexpected choice and partly because Sarah Palin comes with a lot of negative baggage -- at least if you support secular government, reason, and science. For the conservative evangelicals then and now, though, Palin's support for creationism, Christian Nationalism, and religious warfare have been most welcome.

To anyone who has any semblance of functional, currently operating, rational faculties, Palin, it seems to me, is tantamount to a total “ditz” regarding any true competence for ANY higher US governmental office.
I can’t imagine what state our government would be in right now, if McCain had won; and she was next in line for the Presidency.
“YIKES” to the nth Power..?
She obviously appeals to the lowest (of the lowest) common denominator of ignorant, “Fundie-style”, mentality.

Here’s the link to a rather ‘fun’ Site, put up last year, which actually summarizes (and spoofs rather effectively) a lot of the blatant dumbness which accompanies her “cutsy-pooh” style shtick; which, I think, is part and parcel to her “appeal”. (”D’oh!”) ;)

“What!…no Santa Claus…or Xmas tree?”
Yeah…but there IS a dinosaur! [Check the window scene]
Erm…Have fun?

As I have written in this forum and others many times, Palin is no more than Mike Huckabee in a dress (or skirt).

Abstinence Only Sex Ed worked quite well with her daughter, didn’t it ? : D

Ah, Sarah Palin–always good for a chuckle. The only scary thing about her is the odd number of people who seem to consider her to be honestly impressive. I’d LOVE to see demographics for that crowd–seriously.

How does drivel like this get past your editors? Thanks. You just convinced me to vote for Palin.

“3. Sarah Palin Supports Censorship and Banning Books”

Personally I would not vote for Sarah Palin because I feel she is not qualified. However, fair is fair. I don’t think the incident that occurred in 1996 in Wasilla is a clear demonstration that Palin is pro-censorship or supports the banning of books. May make one wonder, but it’s a bit of a leap. Check the Sarah Palin page on snopes.com for more…apparently no specific books were mentioned nor was the issue raised again. I think too much was made of this incident during the campaign as a scare-tactic by the other camp. If she had actually banned books it would be a different story, but for me, not enough evidence to support the claim.

And, in answer to another question – “Can anyone rise to a position of power or influence within the Republican Party without first avowing opposition to basic science in the name of religious ideology and anti-intellectual superstition?” – I believe yes. Believe it or not there are moderate Republicans (!) I know this website leans left, but really, do you think that clumping all or most Repubs into that narrow stereotype is fair?

Moderate Republicans are a dying breed. A few are left, such as Maine Senators Snowe and Collins. But many others in Washington are gone in one form or another. These include Reps. Chris Shays, Connie Morella, Senators Jim Jeffords, Lincoln Chafee, Norm Coleman, Gordon Smith, and Arlen Specter. They either got defeated by Democrats or switched to become Democrats.

The whole Northeast USA is nearly a total wasteland for Republicans, the biggest source of moderates. New England has zero of them in the house after Shays lost. New York has only 2 of its 29 House members which are Republicans after the right-wing drove out moderate Scozzafava from the race last year. Only 12 of 32 House members from NJ and PA, too.

There are a few moderate Republican governors around, but they tend to be happy staying in their positions. But I think of MA’s Mitt Romney who abandoned some of the center-left positions he held when he ran for that office in 2002 and for Senate in 1994 in order to run for the GOP nomination in 2008. It was like he became a different person (i.e. a “typical” right-wing Republican) when he ran for the nomination.

I sometimes would have nightmares about Sarah as being this country’s president. As old as McSame is I would wonder as to the idea of her being vice president and McSame passing away, and Sarah becoming the president. Holy Crap! Not another 4 or 8 years of my rights being flushed down the toilet.

Why the hell can’t these theist stay out of the goverment and it’s affairs? Why do they feel it necessary to have their own holy war against Muslim countries that they decide to fight against? And I don’t mean the ones that do deserve a war. I some how feel it has to do more with oil than defending some god’s will. I think that’s where the real deception is. Just another God excuse to wage another oil war.

It’s no wonder why Sarah believes in superstitions like Christianity and Intelligent Design because she is ignorant and doubtful of truth.

Side note to Gunner Sykes:
WTF are you talking about? What drivel? This happens to be one of the most informative web-sights that there is. Go back to drooling on yourself and your fantasies of you and Sarah.
