1. Religion & Spirituality

Discuss in my forum

Religion is sometimes presented as an important means by which people can cope with the problems they face in life, but religion can also add or magnify problems. People aren't necessarily happier and better off with religion than they would be without and this may be especially true when it comes to fundamentalist Christianity, including Pentecostal forms. Research has revealed a strong correlation between Pentecostalism and higher rates of anxiety, depression, and mental health disorders.

Hmmm…RE:
“an end where most of humanity will suffer terribly then be cast down to hell where they will suffer for all eternity. Only the truly faithful will be “raptured” up to heave prior to Armageddon, so only they will be assured of salvation and an eternity of peace.”
“raptured” up to heave”?
What!…as in…to heave a sigh of relief?…like…for the ‘fact’ that those jealous, angry, (newly) gun toting “unsaved”, left, revengefully, on the ground, didn’t shoot them in their totally naked a$$es, whilst on their way up into that horribly cold, non-breathable air space, on their way to meet up with…of course…
(the, perhaps, also naked?) “Lord Jeebus”?

Yeah…I know, Austin…”What a difference a little “n” makes? ;)

Seriously…and, I think, justifiably cynical(?)…what absolutely VICIOUS notions accompany the already marginally insane doctrines which have emerged from all the various, ancient, made-up, delusional mythologies; which unnecessarily and dangerously complicate, further, every aspect of our already troubling, long entrenched, World-wide human conflicts.
IMO, the human race, in general, has been, effectively, mentally ill for thousands of years; and it’s only somewhat recently, since the rise of Modern Science and the, all-too limited (as atheist?), practical recognition of rational, critical thinking, that there’s ANY hope, whatsoever, for the emergence of any recognizably valid state of “Cosmological” sanity.

Pentacostalism was certainly stressful to me, with all the pressure to speak in tongues (alway felt like a fraud) and get baptized (but only if you really want to, but I’m not going to shut up about it until you do). I’m so glad I got out of that craziness.

An attackdisguised as intellectualism. The real issue on this blog should be: Does Drinking Cause more Stress than Pentecostalism? Now there is a real topic.

You could interview children from divorced homes, beaten wives and children, alcoholics in jail, M.A.D.D. activists, or how about, kids who see their parents drink up the milk money.

Get a life and something important to do.
