Albert Einstein is sometimes claimed by religious theists seeking the authority of a famous scientist for their theistic views, but Einstein denied the existence of the traditional concept of a personal god. Was Albert Einstein therefore an atheist? From some perspectives his position would be seen as atheism or no different from atheism. He admitted to being a freethinker, which in a German context is much the same as atheism, but it's not clear that Einstein disbelieved in any god concepts.

Based on the comments, it sounds like even Einstein was confused as to the difference between a weak atheist, a strong atheist, and an agnostic; this makes it very clear that all atheists need to make sure they understand and defend these differences whenever they encounter ignorance of them.
Conservatives always treat their historical victims like a smorgasbord. They just quote something that suits their crooked prejudices and that’s that.
Einstein was a seminal thinker like Jefferson which means he was probably thinking all sorts of contradictory stuff depending on date, time, and
intake of alcohol.
The problem with Christians is that they think they have a right to be a crook as long as it serves a higher power or it serves a greater good. These are the classic goals of every half-baked tyranny.

Frank, Have you ever heard of Pantheism? When Einstein explicitly said he doesnt believe in a personal god, that speaks quite a bit. When he talks of “god,” its just an explanation of natural phenomenon.
People, When Einstein refers to God, he is talking about the personification of the deep, yet unresolved mysteries of the Universe, not an invisible man in the sky. So yes, Einstein was an atheist, just like the overwhelming percentage of scientists (does include intelligent design or any pseudoscience)around the world.
I received an email from a friend of mind that showed an argument from a christian against an atheist professor showing the student to have one the argument by saying that evil is godlessness or something like that. At the bottom of this ridiculously flawed argument it says “p.s. the student was albert einstein.” I couldn’t help but write my friend back and let her know everything wrong with the argument ending with the fact that albert einstein was not a christian and never was. It’s things like this B.S thing going around the internet that makes me really lose respect for many theists. It’s like the only way they can argue is by lying.
