Weekly Poll: Define Civil Marriage According to Christian Standards?
Many conservative, evangelical Christians insist that civil marriage laws should be written to match the way they believe marriage is also defined in traditional Christianity - thus imposing Christian marriage standards upon everyone - non-Christians, atheists, liberal Christians, etc. Is this justified?
The nature of marriage has varied greatly from one era to the next and from one society to the next. In fact, the nature of marriage has varied so much that it is difficult to come up with any one definition of marriage which adequately covers every permutation of the institution in every society which has thus far been studied. This variety alone ensures the falsehood of the claim that marriage is necessarily religious, but even if we focus exclusively on the West — or even exclusively on America — we still find that religion has not been regarded as a necessary component.

Austin Cline. You are one beautiful person.
Christians should keep their damn morality to themselves. Who are they to decide what and who makes up a marriage. How about divorced? Interracial? Interfaith? Haven’t all these changed according to the whims of these hypocrites through the years, as they have divorced, married different faiths? (I doubt different races) Stuff it.
There is no “other” side to stem cell research. As usual, it’s a bunch of misinformation and rhetoric, mostly coming from Fox “lack of” News.
Why do these pseudo religious people try to cram their idolatry down other throats?
If you can regulate firearms, then what gives gay people the right to marry the same sex?
What?
