Jehovah’s Witnesses, aka Watchtower Bible and Tract Society have never been known for scholarship. Their version of the Bible which they call a translation has never had recognition among Greek scholars.
In regards to religious history, Jehovah’s Witnesses have often wrestled things out of context to say things the author never intended, and have been called to task for it, and have been asked to print retractions.
with a disdain for education, Jehovah’s Witnesses discredit any viewpoint that does not support the organizational party line. Threats, fear, intimidation and excommunication keep most Jehovah’s subservient to organizational thought.
The last independent religious decision any JW will make is the decision to be baptized into the group. After that, Witnesses are expected and demanded to check their brains at the door and allow all scholarly thinking to be handled from their headquarters in Brooklyn NY.
60 Minutes with Leslie Stahl did a great expose on Jehovah’s Witnesses…those wishing more information can check a local library or internet for information.
PS - If you go to a Jehovah’s Witness Kingdom Hall - don’t drink the Kool Aid. And don’t abandon your own private personal beliefs in exchange for organizational thought - it is not safe to surrender your mind to someone else.
