There is a growing movement of pharmacists who want the right to refuse to fill prescriptions for birth control pills, especially for the purpose of emergency contraception (also known as Plan B or morning after pills) arguing that the pills may 'terminate pregnancies' and they don't want to be complicit in abortions. The problem is, though, that this requires a rhetorically useful but nevertheless dishonest change to the definition of 'pregnancy.'

If I train to become a doctor or pharmacist, what would be stopping me from creating my own religion where it is immoral to give patients any kind of medication? And of course, it will be discrimination if the patient wants the right to live, because my religious views are so much more important than my patient.
[If I train to become a doctor or pharmacist, what would be stopping me from creating my own religion where it is immoral to give patients any kind of medication?] Ever heard of christian science?
This issue shows how lazy and cowardly religionists are. Human life isn”t even biologically involved. They just want to use the power of meddling to get others to conform.
The unfortunate thing about anything is that there are people who always want to meddle in another persons affairs…this gives insane people the feeling of POWER. I say try to avoid these goofballs and do not allow their nonsensical thoughts and actions to affect you. There are many pharmacists in the various towns and if one does not want to oblige go to a different one and spend your money there and NEVER go back to the first one.
People can buy heroin or marijuana or crack or guns or firecrackers so legal remedies for whatever should be available also. Who cares what ANYONE thinks, do what is good for you!!! PERIOD!!!

This isn’t true in some rural areas. The closest “city” to my community doesn’t have a pharmacist, and there are only two in the next closest “city”, about 30 minutes away. If I couldn’t get my birth control pills from either of those pharmacists, I would have to drive about an hour to the next one. I live in Tennessee, in case you were wondering.
