November 05, 2004: The Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, approves an amendment to its Constitution which will allow it to differ from the national church when the diocese believes it has moved "contrary to the history faith and order" of the church. This amendment was created with gay marriage and the status of gays in the church in mind.
