History of Celibacy in Roman Catholicism

Tuesday August 22, 2006
Celibacy has not always been a requirement for priests or other clergy members. Over time rules about the sexual abstinence grew out of the belief that sexual intercourse made a person "unclean," based in part on the idea that women were less pure than men and hence constituted a form of ritual contamination. It wasn't until 1139, with the Second Lateran Council, that mandatory celibacy was officially imposed on all priests. Read Article: History of Celibacy in Roman Catholicism

I would just like to apologize for all the insults and hate mail you recieve from the “christians” out there. I also consider myself to be a Christian but I certainly won’t belittle you or treat you with disrespect. As far as your beliefs; well, if there is a God, we shall all find out, and if there isn’t a God, then we will never find out. Actually, I happen to know there is a God because I have seen him. (yes him; at least that was the appearance.)

John 1:18 says that no one has seen God. How have you managed to avoid this Biblical mandate? Are you the only person that has ever seen God? Was anyone else with you when you saw God? Will you be seeing God again soon?

People from other religions have also claimed to have seen the god that they worship. Are they telling the truth, or were they seeing what they wanted to see? If I believe your claim that you have seen God, shouldn’t I also believe their claims, too? And if your God and their God are contradictory, how can I decide who’s right?

I’m asking these questions because you’re making a phenomenal claim, one that if true, surpasses nearly every other claim in all of human history. A claim that someone saw an alien from another planet wouldn’t be as big as what you are saying: you have seen the unseeable, you have interacted with the supernatural.
