Discussion: Tom Cruise & Scientology

Friday August 18, 2006
A forum member writes: Faiths that mooch money from their members, brainwash or don't care about member's well-being are faiths that I have no acceptance for.

The Church of Scientology does all of the above. They treat people like crap for taking medicine!!! Well dang....I don't know why it's so horrible that someone is taking control of their health and trying to improve their quality of life.

Tom Cruise calls Psychiatry a "Pseudo-Science"....Well I think the CoS is a "Pseudo-Religion"

To be fair, the Church of Scientology is no less a "real" religion than other faiths; the problems with Scientology should be seen as an indictment of religion generally rather than merely problems with Scientology alone. Do they really "mooch" money more than other religions, for example? Read More...

well put. there is NO difference between scientology and any other religion, with the exception that it is younger.

you mention that scientology treats people like crap for taking medicine, well how about the catholic church. they make you feel like crap for just being human - abstinance comes to mind.

all religions are created equal as far as reason is concerned.

LOL, your final comment is so dead on - “all religions are created equal as far as reason is concerned.” Can I use it as my sig?

Another thing about Scientology; perhaps they are no more litigious that other entities, however, they do make much more thrashing about in the legal waters. So much so, that I wonder why more people don’t find Scientology to be an obvious load of manure?

My wife nearly died when she gave up her meds after Mr. Cruise made public statements on his views of mental illness. As a celebrity who is constantly in the spotlight he should know better. What he did is totally irresponsible. He should keep his stupid idiotic opinion to himself. Only somebody who has been brainwashed can possibly believe in this nonsense. Perhaps I should feel sorry for him.
