A forum member writes: There is much agony of believe/disbelieve being expended over the matter whether is such things as life after death, and souls. One of the arguments often used for an afterlife, is the one about how much comfort and hope such a belief produces in this life. This seems to flow from the idea that life is too sad and contradictory and "un-holy" that mankind therefore needs an afterlife where the soul can be at rest and content in the warm glow of an All-good existence.

No, what people do not realize is that in and of itself this life, this reality we live in, already contains all the goodness and all the reasons for hope that us humans needs. There is wonder and excitement and glorious moments of triumph when one overcomes disablities and setbacks to achieve an important aim in life. The "good" afterlife is therefore already a real possiblity here, in this life. The problem is that relativity few people are fully aware of this, and miss all the angels and signs of being blessed by nature that surrounds them ever moment of this life.

Afterlife? I have seen it in the eyes of my two grandchildren and experiences the trust and enthusiasm for life that I and their parents succeed in instilling in their personalities through our love and care for them.

I do not need the fairy tale of a imagined heaven in some "afterlife" that I enter when I die.

The sad thing is that we are so busy in arguing about these matters that we miss most if not all of the heaven that we may experience here, in this life!
