A forum member writes: In a recent mailing from the Skeptics Society there was this letter from a nominal (church-going) Catholic who appears to be pretty much an atheist. I wonder how prevalent this is in the supposedly very religious USA. I wonder how these people answer polls?
This is an interesting question. It is very possible that there are many people who regularly attend religious services who may be apathetic, agnostic, or even atheist but who keep going anyway because of social expectations, family pressure, or simple habit.
