Discussion: Should We Legalize Drugs?

A forum member writes: I do not believe that we should legalize ALL drugs. There are certain drugs which alter the brain so quickly and so permanently and are overall so dangerous that I find it hard to justify allowing people to sell them to others. Unfortunately we can't always trust people to buy and use drugs responsibly as seen by the abundance of people who waste money on magic diet pills. I do believe we should at least consider legalizing marijuana. While I doubt I would use it, I believe that it is not much more dangerous than alcohol and tobacco. At the very least, I believe it should be available to those whose health problems could be alleviated by it.
