Larry Darby Loses, But Still Gloats
The Montgomery Advertiser reports:
Montgomery lawyer Larry Darby received 44 percent of the vote -- 162,628 votes with all but one precinct reporting -- compared with Mobile District Attorney John Tyson Jr.’s 56 percent in Tuesday’s Democratic primary for attorney general. [...]
“I find this incredible, to be honest,” said [University of Alabama political expert William Stewart], professor emeritus of political science. “Without scientific evidence, I don’t think we’ll know all the factors, but I think some of it is unfamiliarity with the candidates. One name is just about as good as the other without knowing that one guy is a nut and the other is a very distinguished member of the bar association.” ...
[Mark Potok of the Southern Poverty Law Center], editor of the center’s quarterly magazine on hate groups, said he doesn’t believe 162,628 Alabama citizens would knowingly vote for a white supremacist and Neo-Nazi. He called Darby “a very lonely man” who recently fell from favor with his white supremacist buddies after they found out he once married a Chinese woman and fathered two of her children.
Larry Darby, though, insists that he isn’t really a nut — he’s so far gone that he’s convinced that his racist, anti-Semitic views qualify as normal. It would be nice to imagine that Darby did well simply because most voters didn’t have a clue when they were voting, but is it not conceivable that a significant number of people in Alabama share Darby’s warped sense of ethics and flawed understanding of reality?
Darby gloats in an email sent to supporters:
Despite widespread efforts by the Democratic party officials, controlled media and efforts by others to try and convince voters I am a fringe candidate, I maintained a strong showing from the first report of voting results until the very end. [...]
Thank you to those who supported my campaign! You made it possible even though I spent exactly $0.00 on advertising. Based a quick review of his campaign expenditures as reported to the secretary of state, my opponent apparently spent nearly $200,000 on television advertising!
Controlled media? I wonder if this is another attempted swipe at Jews.
Many people probably hope that with this loss, Larry Darby will simply fade back into the woodwork and be forgotten. Perhaps that’s what should happen, but I don’t think that’s what will happen. Darby received enough votes to justify wanting to try again; he received enough attention to make him want to keep going on. I don’t think we’ve heard the last of Larry Darby, I’m afraid.
Update: In a follow-up letter, Darby writes:
The Jewish-owned or Marxist media for the masses have been scrambling to explain away Darby’s resounding success, despite his being well known in Alabama as an atheist activist who offered a counter viewpoint to then Chief Justice Roy Moore and his efforts to place Jewish idolatry in the rotunda of the State Judicial Building.
The Marxist Media after the election did a 180-degree turnaround and contradicted their own very public and widespread efforts. Before the election, each of the seven foreign-owned newspaper ran articles and editorials denouncing Darby’s campaign, aided and abetted by the best efforts of the corrupt or unethical Democratic Party leadership! After the election, they each began grasping at straws but most also included a reference that Darby did so very well because he was not well known.
I guess I was correct in thinking that Darby was referring to “Jewish” media earlier, though it’s interesting that in addition to being Jewish, the media is also sometimes Marxist.
And Darby insists that he isn’t really a nut....
Understanding Atheism & Atheists:

Comments
Austin Cline is just another jew afraid of the Truth!
As far as I know, only pathetic White Nationalists:
1. Think that you must be a Jew is you disagree with them.
2. Think that calling someone a Jew is an insult.
But maybe I’m wrong. Are there others who think such things?
Truth with a capital T, eh? Hah! Then why are you reading Austin Cline, Jane?
He doesn’t seem very afraid.
It is a sad day when the question being asked is whether 46% of voters were racist or merely ignorant.
Perhaps they were informed, not misguided by the Jewish-Marxist media? Regardless, the moguls of anti-Gentilist political correctness were shocked!
There is no “jewish-marxist” media, just White Nationalists looking for scapegoats to blame for their own inadequacies.
Tyson made a mistake. He didn’t advertise to gain name recognition in the northern part of the state. In South Alabama, where he is known, he won overwhelmingly. In other parts of the state, name recognition of all the candidates (including the current attorney general) was very low. Lack of name recognition, and the lack of endorsement for Tyson by an important political entity (which admitted it was punishing him for the felony prosecution of one of their own) were the reason for the surprisingly narrow margin of victory.
The more publicity Darby gets, the fewer votes he will get in his next attempt at elected office.
If you ask me, many of the 46% voted for Darby simply because they ‘are democrats’. Some people would vote for pretty much anyone who represented ‘their’ party; after all, just look at Bush.
Owen: this was a primary election, not a general election. The choice was between Democrats, not between a Democrat and a Republican.
austin cline, you pathetic media-c*** sucking, brain-f***ed d***wad…
your kind is ending, go f*** youself and the miserable tree you dropped from… you party f***ed, mindless robotic f***!
Noted: comment edited for profanity. When White Nationalists are upset, this is the best they can offer.
Maybe it is someone who just understands how despicable Austin Cline is - a jew masquerading as an atheist? You don’t know evil, vile hatred until you point out the truth to a jew!
Funny: White Nationalists like Jane Green accuse me of being a “Jew,” as if that were an insult; recently one Jew accused me of being bigoted against all Jews (in other words, that I am an anti-Semite) because I was critical of him. This helps demonstrate the lack of critical thinking skills on both ends of this pathetic little spectrum.
Evil, vile hatred is made quite manifest whenever White Nationalists like you write something, Jane. It’s the only thing that the White Nationalist movement is capable of producing: not ideas, not substance, and not solutions. Just hatred.
Austin, You are doing a great public service! Unfortunately the work also sets you up as a target. Thank you for bringing a little sanity into my everyday life surrounded by people who refuse to think rationally. Please remember the rest of us who are grateful for what you are doing when hateful religious nuts are being nasty.
Austin Cline is a hateful religious nut. Unfortunately Gentiles who reject god do not see that jews and shabbat goyim who reject god put the tribe first. Cline is jew before all else and gives atheists a bad name.
Prove it.
I’m not even a Jew after all else. Your view of the world is so narrow and warped that you can’t conceive of anyone who disagrees with you as not being Jewish in some respect.
Austin, thanks for speaking on some subjects others find distasteful enough to ignore. I cannot imagine how someone who actually reads your articles can find you bigoted or prejudiced, except towards bigotry and prejudice. And even then willing to listen!
*another post from the same boring White Supremacist*
Austin does do us all a great service. We can tell who is a free thinker and who is not - Austin definitely is not a free thinker! And he is a very poor writer, too. How did about.com come up with such a jewish fruitloop to write about atheism, anyway? He makes a great promoter of Neo-Conservatism.
Judging from the content of the vast majority of your detractors, it would appear their main problem is one of personal developement inclusive of a well rounded “liberal” education (I can hear the howls in the wilderness), whether formal or self imposed. By all means read “Mein Kampf”, but don’t stop there. Work your way through Mickey and Donald and as you find your vocabulary improving you will be able to subsitute more interesting epithets than the weary, dreary “f**k”. Oh, sorry…YOU CAN USE BIG WORDS.
I don’t know how you can keep it up, Austin. You must have the patience of the mythical saints. Oh, and congratulations on your elevation to “great promoter of Neo-Conservatism”…?!?!?
I think the funny thing is that these white supremacists usually use Christianity as a means to promote their prejudices. I’m not Christian, though I once thought there was a God. But, in the Bible, wasn’t there a part that said “love thy neighbor?” If you retarded white supremacist are Christians, I think it’s time you guys go stuff your faces in the Bible again. Certainly, you have no clear backing without properly understanding that first. Back to the drawing board then?
This doesn’t prevent people from going to war, from asserting that men should rule over women, etc. The Bible was a key and fundamental basis for the religious ideology defending both slavery and segregation. So, it’s not surprising that it would continue to be used by White Supremacists today.
Reading all of the comments gave me a headache! I can’t comprehend the thinking of some people, but great Zeus’s beard, these white supremacists have got to be the most ignorant fools I’ve ever seen. How the hell do they even know how to use a computer? I applaud you Austin for taking all these idiotic insults in stride and constantly firing back making these nut jobs look even more stupid.
