Corruption of Justice

By , About.com GuideJune 4, 2006

Follow me on:

Is justice necessarily corrupted when God is not acknowledged? That is what some supporters of the Ten Commandments monument in Alabama believe. According to them, a just government is a godly governments; therefore, any government which does not explicitly acknowledge and endorse God (as they define God) must not be just.

Dorothy Anne Seese writes on Ether Zone:

Our judges have corrupted justice and judgment, rendering evil wherever one tries to do good and serve their Lord. The name of Jesus is besmirched and mocked, the Ten Commandments are covered in shame. It is to the shame of judges that they would do despite to their Creator, but how much more is our God ashamed of such men and women? The coming judgment of God will leave no doubt.

Let the warning be sounded throughout the land that the leaders and the people whose corruption they have upheld are both bound for Hell and destruction! Let the fearless say “we will serve our God” and let them take to themselves the whole armor of God for the battle against the unseen forces of evil.

Sounds an awful lot like a call to battle to me. Dorothy Anne Seese is very clear that those who oppose her and her colleagues are not simply mistaken or misguided; instead, they are part of the “forces of evil.” And what do you do to the forces of evil? Destroy them, of course. Is that what Dorothy Anne Seese has in mind for secularists, separationists, and anyone who doesn’t agree with her understanding of Christianity? I’m not sure that I would want to experience what she considers “justice.”
