Larry Darby Going Right Off the Deep End
Alabama Public Television has an interview with Darby where he says many truly absurd things. For example, he raises the idea, something he claims is being speculated about on the internet, that the young men who burned the churches in Alabama are Jewish and acted because of Abraham Foxman’s criticisms of Alabama churches. Does he imagine that there is some sort of Jewish Jihad against Baptists in America, or what?
Later, Larry Darby claims that laws banning Holocaust Denial, which are an outgrowth of laws banning Nazi political organizations, are really a product of “hate crimes” legislation. I don’t think that European governments even have “hate crimes” laws like America, but I don’t suppose that facts like this matter. Then he claims that there are efforts under way to give homosexuals special rights not accorded to the average white citizen of Alabama. After that, he misrepresents the nature of hate crimes by insisting that merely attacking a gay person would probably qualify as a “hate crime” under the law, even if no anti-gay statements are made.
Indeed, Larry Darby claims a heterosexual who is subjected to sexual attention from a gay man could be justified in “defending” himself physically — according to Darby, such circumstances qualify as “mitigating” circumstances in a criminal case. Of course, he refused to apply the same standards to a woman who might want to “defend” herself against a man making a pass at her. This sounds like hypocrisy, but it’s not if the point is to defend the privileges of heterosexual males over both women and the gay men who threaten traditional notions of masculinity. The “self-defense” here isn’t “defense” against any sort of assault, but a “defense” against a perceived threat to male power and privilege.
If he thinks that according equal rights to gays is giving them special rights, what about equal rights for other minorities? Well, Larry Darby believes that the Civil Rights acts of 1964 and 1965, as well as the Voting Right Act, should be repealed because they create a special class out of racial minorities. He also seems to believe that they were passed because of the efforts of communists, but I’m not clear on that part. He does say that the ACLU is a communist-based organization and that most of what the ACLU does works against America’s constitutional republic. He doesn’t justify this, he just asserts it.
Larry Darby appears to be one of those who refers to both legal and illegal immigration as the “Mexican Invasion.” Given how regularly Darby injects race into his statements, and his apparent preference to whites over everyone else, I suspect that his concern with immigration is more about the race of those immigrating rather than the fact that people are immigrating at all. This may be why Darby is getting such favorable press from National Vanguard, a significant White Nationalist and racist organization. As far as I can tell, Darby doesn’t shy away from this connection.
Darby has a “plan” for dealing with the Mexican Invasion, even though the Alabama attorney general has no authority in such matters. It’s a good thing, too, because he would have the governor declare martial law (but only after the Alabama national guard back from Iraq, since they are only fighting for Israel over there). Soldiers would have orders to shoot to kill all along the border of the state. Presumably he means people trying to get in without authorization, not people trying to get out of his newly created police state, but I wouldn’t place any bets on it.
Darby insists that his ancestors, who were from England, were “pioneers” rather than immigrants. Mexicans coming in today are an “infection,” a type of language favored by Nazis when describing Jews in Germany. Darby extends the description by arguing for “preventative medicine” to halt the “infection” before it starts. This appears to include moving against organizations that promote immigration, like the Southern Poverty Law Center. He seems to accuse them of treason and promises to investigate them for treason and would like to shut them down. I’m sure that this has nothing to do with their work to expose his anti-Semitism, Holocaust Denial, and other nonsense.
Darby even suggests the creation of a “confederacy” of states — Alabama, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana for “mutual cooperation” when dealing with illegal immigrants. No word on whether he also thinks that they should secede, but he does say that the federal government has “failed” and does advocate “state sovereignty.”
We should all be thankful that Larry Darby has no chance of getting elected, but we should also wonder what wrong with Alabama such that a person saying these things would expect to get more than five votes.

While Larry does indeed seem to have gone pretty bonkers inmany respects, he is spot on in his aversion to “hate crime” laws. These essentially tack on a “multiplier” or an “enhancer” to already stiff penalties for assaulting someone. And what’s the basis for the add-on? It’s what you were supposedly thinking at the time you did the dirty deed. Just thinking “I want your money” or “You looked at my girlfriend funny” are apparently considered to be perfectly legitimate, logical reasons for beating the crap out of someone, but “You look gay” is the kind of thot that’ll get you an extra couple of years in the Big House. And, as Larry quite accurately observes, you can get nailed for it even if what you were REALLY thinking at the time was “I want your money”, if the prosecuting attorney can make the case that the victim WAS gay.
Thotcrime was something Orwell warned about in “1984″. Atheists in particular should be wary of according the concept any shred of respectability.
“And what’s the basis for the add-on? It’s what you were supposedly thinking at the time you did the dirty deed.”
Nothing new here - what you were “supposedly” thinking at the time of the deed is what separates criminal activity from negligence, or first degree murder from other levels of murder. In effect, most crimes are “thought crimes” because most depend upon the existence of mens rea - except, of course, criminal negligence. Even then, of course, arguing that someone is guilty of criminal negligence requires making arguments about what they knew, what they should have known, and what they were thinking.

No, hate crimes provisions imply no such thing - just as add-ons for using a gun during a robbery don’t imply that using a knife, or using no weapon at all, are OK during are robbery.
“And, as Larry quite accurately observes, you can get nailed for it even if what you were REALLY thinking at the time was “I want your money”, if the prosecuting attorney can make the case that the victim WAS gay.”
Prove it. Demonstrate, if you can, first that prosecutors try to do this and, second, that juries accept it.
It’s odd that the Libertarians would allow a Larry Darby to be a candidate using the name of their party. The Libertarian Party’s stated policy on immigration includes the comment, “We condemn the xenophobic immigrant bashing that would build a wall around the United States.”

John: maybe that’s why he’s not with the Libertarians anymore?
Oh, thanks. I see it now. It was the 2002 election when he was a Libertarian candidate for a few weeks before he withdrew because other Libertarians were conspiring against him. Now he’s embarrassing Democrats by claiming to be one of them.

Zionist lapdogs Austin Cline and John are grasping at straws. Mr. Darby had a sound pro-Alabama, pro-liberty platform that appealed to eyes-wide-open Democrats - 43% of the voters. That’s not too shabby for a first-time candidate for statewide leadership. The Jews and other Marxists (like John) are scared to death that their reign of terror over the Gentiles is coming to an end. Darby got over 163,000 votes, carrying 33 of 67 counties. Jews like Austin Cline or “righteous Gentiles” like John can remain in denial if they want. They might need to look into buying some rapture insurance or moving to Israel to avoid the inevitable, when Americans choose to restore the Republic.
