Daily Poll: Should We Be Taking Pills to Make Us Happy?

Wednesday February 15, 2006
The benefits of antidepressants have been receiving more and more press coverage during recent years. If they are so great at improving a person's mood, why don't we all take them? Is there anything wrong with 'normal' people taking pills to improve mood and productivity?

Daily Poll: If there were no side-effects, would you approve of people generally taking pills to feel happier?

  • Sure, why not? It's no different from taking pills for physical well being.
  • No - it's wrong to alter your personality with drugs when there isn't a pressing need.
  • I don't know, I'm conflicted. It would bother me, but I have trouble articulating why.
  • I don't care.
