Discussion: Motivation of Street Preachers?

Wednesday February 8, 2006
A forum member writes: Some preacher guy came up to my college with his Bible today and started a random tirade about the state of the world. He called girls who wear tight pants "whores," and railed against the gays, etc, etc. It was so dumb. A bunch of students started insulting him and yelling and stuff. It got really heated. On one hand, he should have been removed from the campus sooner for slandering passersby...but on the other, random insults from onlookers weren't very becoming, either. I just walked quietly past him...it was obvious the guy had major persecution complex, and I wasn't about to feed the fire. I was talking to a friend about this today. He said there are people who go around inciting scenes like this so they can tape the crowd insulting the "saintly Christian guy who's just trying to witness peacefully." Anyone know anything about this?

Have you seen scenes like this? What do you suppose the motivation is of preachers who create such confrontations? Read More...
