Catholic Church and the Holocaust
Recently Received: The Catholic Church and the Holocaust, 1930-1965, by Michael Phayer. Publisher: Indiana University Press.
Criticism of how the Catholic Church dealt with the Holocaust and the Nazi regime in Germany tends to focus on the actions of Pope Pius XII, also sometimes called Hitler's Pope. This may be unfair, if for no other reason than the actions of so many others in the Catholic Church, including the Catholics in the pews, contributed greatly to the Church's inaction and at times even complicity in war crimes.
