Religious Couple Unaware that Sex is Needed for Procreation

Is it really possible for a couple to be married for eight years not only without ever having sexual relations, but without even knowing that sex is necessary for procreation? Can two people be raised without their ever having learned how to express themselves sexually and be intimate with another person?

Ananova reports:

A [fertility] clinic spokesman said: "When we asked them how often they had had sex, they looked blank, and said: "What do you mean?".

"We are not talking retarded people here, but a couple who were brought up in a religious environment who were simply unaware, after eight years of marriage, of the physical requirements necessary to procreate."

I really don't know if this story is true — it's possible that the news services were taken in by a satire site again. If it is true, though, it's pretty disturbing. These two people — both in their 30s — must have been raised in an especially repressive environment for them to never figure out what sex is for. After all, sex isn't something that you exactly have to teach in great detail — it seems to develop rather naturally and quickly when the body is physically ready.
