Pity the Poor Atheist Children

Tuesday May 31, 2005
Atheists who attended the San Francisco "All Atheists Weekend" actually had the temerity to bring their children. This seems to have bothered some religious people who don't think that children should learn about atheism.

Bryan M. writes:

It's sad to see these children be filled with these lies and their chances for overcoming this false doctrine will be much more difficult than most. Then, I especially like the comment about intolerance. It's amusing because to make that assertion is itself intolerant. It's not atheists who are in the mainstream in this country, but rather the atheists themselves who hold to alternative views and lifestyles.

So, should the children be taken from their godless, atheist parents and given over to god-fearing Christian families where they will be brought up to love Jesus and hate atheists? Bryan doesn't suggest this, but when complaints about intolerance are themselves labeled "intolerant," you have to wonder what he really thinks but isn't saying.
