Travesty in Dover
Massimo Pigliucci explains:
[W]hen students started asking questions about intelligent design, the administrators left the classroom, suggesting that questions on the matter should be asked at home. Right, so why not let the whole matter to be discussed at home, in church, or even in philosophy or comparative religions classes? But not science, c'mon! To call this "an honest scientific evaluation of the theory of evolution" is a travesty...
Administrators were the ones who had to present the "Intelligent" Design position because science teachers flatly refused to get involved. Once the presentation was made, though, administrators scurried out without bothering to answer any students' questions. So much for being interested in a critical evaluation of all "theories" and ideas about the development or origins of life...
According to CNN:
Biology teacher Jennifer Miller said although she was able to make a smooth transition to her evolution lesson after the statement was read, some students were upset that administrators would not entertain any questions about intelligent design. "They were told that if you have any questions, to take it home," Miller said.
The administrators think that questions and discussion about "Intelligent" Design belong at home... maybe that's where their "presentation" belongs, too?
