Are atheists more rational than theists?

Fundamentally, atheism itself isn't anything more than not believing in any gods - and that means that being an atheist doesn't automatically make a person rational, smart, clever, or anything else. Unfortunately, not all atheists realize this and assume that atheism = rationality and theism = rationality. While it might be true that a well throughout-out atheism may be more rational than many forms of theism, that doesn't allow us to conclude that any and every form of atheism is necessarily rational.
