Poseidon (Roman: Neptune), God of the Seas

Wednesday November 17, 2004
Poseidon / Neptune Poseidon, known to the Romans as Neptune, was the god of seas, water, earthquakes, and horses. He joined with his brothers Zeus and Hades to overthrow the rule of their father, Kronos, and then divide the rule of the world between them. Although he was best known for having a bad temper, he also seems to have had a playful side and according to legend he created creatures like the octopus and blowfish for water nymphs to play with.
