Dobson: Gays Will Destroy the Earth
The Oklahoman reports on the Senate race between Democrat Brad Carson and Republican Tom Coburn:
[Focus on the Family founder James] Dobson warned those attending the Friday afternoon rally at Oklahoma Christian University that the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman must be protected. ... "Homosexuals are not monogamous. They want to destroy the institution of marriage," Dobson said. "It will destroy marriage. It will destroy the Earth."
Yes, that's right, the entire planet will be destroyed if gays are allowed to marry. Never mind that the current marriage laws in America only validate a particular type of marriage that is one out of many which have existed through human history. Never mind that the government doesn't have the authority to single out one religious conception of marriage and bind all Americans to that over any others. The fate of the Earth is at stake if we don't act to repress gays and let them know in no uncertain terms that their relationships are less valuable and less deserving of recognition as compared to heterosexual relationships.
The Christian Right may place "family values" at the center of their rhetoric, but they only value families so long as those families conform to certain religious standards.

The fate of the planet has absolutely nothing to do with gays marrying… There are other concerns, valid ones, which are to blame for us damaging this planet…
I found this anti-religion thesis in a forum. It has me thinking that our Christian religious beliefs might be a mere distraction, and distortion of reality. Now I don’t know whom, nor what, to believe. Does this attached anti-religious thesis contain any truth in it?

Just You go jump off cliffs, and get into your insane fictitious “heaven” yourselves, without us!.. The proverbial “heaven” is here, Now!.. and you crazy “Christians” are dismantling it, for the building materials to build your precious “hell” here on Our earth, Not your earth!.. Remember!.. The more I think on it, the more it seems that above jumble of a thesis seems to actually define and expose a lot of what we Evangelicals, and various other Christian movements are doing, to hurt the planet, the world, its peoples, and all the life on it. How can we stop us God blessed Christians, before it’s too late to stop us, before we have done so very much damage to the world that nature can’t fix it anymore? Isn’t that essentially the road to extinction? because when the planet has died, so have we.
