Why is the Arab Middle East so backward when it comes to technological, political, and economic development? Many argue that Islam is partially responsible, though that seems unlikely when one considers the examples of Muslim nations like Indonesia and Malaysia. This does not mean, however, that Islam is not a contributing factor because Islam is far more diverse than most people give it credit for. Muslims look to Islam to solve social and economic problems, but perhaps they are only making things worse in the process?
