Republicans Blackballing Hardball?

Monday August 30, 2004
Chris Matthews, host of the MSNBC show Hardball, asked some very tough questions of Republicans recently and demonstrated how they used creative editing a Hardball interview with Kerry in order to misrepresent his beliefs. Now they are trying to retaliate.

According to US News:

The GOP thinks Matthews has gone over to Sen. John Kerry 's side and is too critical of the Bush campaign's editing of a Hardball interview with Kerry posted on the party's negative site, www.kerryoniraq.com. As payback, they've stopped urging Republicans to appear on the show.

Using threats and intimidation in an attempt to prevent journalists from acting like journalists is oh so very mature and reasonable, isn’t it? These Republicans evidently don’t want the media telling people when they are shading the truth or leading us astray, otherwise they wouldn’t seek to punish Matthews for doing just that. People such as this really don’t deserve any manner of political power in America. They don’t even deserve the power to hand out traffic tickets.
