Destiny Church: Happy Clapping for Jesus

Sunday May 2, 2004
Sometimes religious groups are so extreme that they can't really be parodied - in effect, they only parody themselves. With some skill, though, it is possible to take what extremists say and take it just a bit further and create some very amusing and entertaining material.

According to Destiny Church's web site:

Pastor Brian is married to Penni Tamariki and they are blessed with four loving children: Daniel (12yrs), Hananiah (11yrs), Mishael (9yrs), and Azariah (6yrs). As Brian is not a slave to the Whore of Babylon (the Roman Catholic Church), after much prayer he volunteered Penni for a hysterectomy after their fourth child. ... As well as being the Senior Pastor for Density, Brian is Chairman of the Committee for Post-Raptural Mission ("CPRM"). CPRM is a charitable organisation which prepares and prints Instruction Booklets for non-Christians left behind after Jesus comes again to whisk away all Christians who are Bible-believing, Church-going, Spirit-filled, Tithe-giving, Happy-clapping Children of God!! Brian believes that the Signs of the Times show that the End of the World will occur within this generation! So - be prepared.

Pastor Brian is also interested in science:

Pastor Brian Tamariki of Density Church today issued a demand to the Minister of Education for "the Science of Flat-Earthism, as taught by the Bible, to be taught in all Secondary School science classes in New Zealand." "Jesus Christ said 'the truth will make you free.' We're simply asking the Government to allow our children to hear the truth, not the lies of Round-earthism," said Brian Tamariki to reporters. "For too long we have been indoctrinated and brainwashed by the lies of Round-earthism, which as is well-known has been completely discredited by Quantum Physics."
"If the Earth were spinning round and round at thousands of miles an hour, as the heretics say, you would expect things to fly off the planet, like coins fly off the car dashboard as you go round the corner. But you don't see that, do you? And if the Earth was round, what would happen when a person from England visited a person from New Zealand? They would have the opposite sense of 'up' and 'down' and fall right off the planet, wouldn't they? It is only when we appreciate the scientific approach of the Bible that we avoid the insurmountable problems of unscientific Round- earthism."

It looks like a pretty amusing site - well worth visiting and spending some with.
