Aborigines Curse Prime Minister

Sunday May 2, 2004
Some people just aren't happy without a good curse. Most ancient religions include some provisions for curses and for cursing enemies, although one rarely hears about it anymore. Sometimes they do come up, though.

The Boston Globe reports that an Aborigines curse was placed on Australian Prime Minister John Howard:

Aborigines believe that to point a kangaroo bone at someone is to bring that person ill fortune, and the black magic is strong enough to cause death. ... "This curse could go two ways, it could enlighten him and lift a mental block that Mr. Howard has about indigenous Australians," Aborigine Geoff Clark told reporters.

I'm a bit curious what Howard thought of being cursed and what he though someone "pointing the bone" at him in protest of his decision to eliminate an aboriginal organization. Probably nothing much at all, actually.
