Church Ignores Dying Man

By , About.com Guide   December 9, 2003

Follow me on:

If anything was supposed to be a basic principle of Christian charity, one would assume that it should be "feeding the poor." At least, one might assume that - but it isn't necessarily true in reality. That's what a story from Britain informs us - in the West Midlands, 62-year-old Kenneth Clarke died of hypothermia just outside a Methodist church - while there were people inside.

ITV reports:

During an inquest in Dudley the borough's acting coroner Robin Balmain criticised the vicar and members of the Central Methodist Church for failing to give the man shelter. ... "What I am unable to understand is why this man didn't get the help he needed earlier. I was told about 60 people were in the methodist church." The inquest heard that Mr Clarke banged on the door of the church saying he was cold and needed help only to be given a blanket, a sandwich and hot drink before the police were contacted.

A pretty sad situation. People were inside a church - eating at a "special feast - while a nake man lay dying outside, being ignored. At the same time, so many churches (not necessarily this one - I really don't know) spend a lot of time and money fighting the "plague" of "homosexuality" in society. Yeah - it's the gays that are the real problem, not people dying from cold and hunger. Makes sense.
