Churches Reject Heterosexual Marriages
Michael J. Meade writes:
"It's not a happy stand to take but it's the right one," said the Rev. Dr. Cynthia L. Landrum as she signed a pledge not to sign the legal documents. "I think as more and more clergy sign this there are strength in numbers." Landrum is a minister at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Gardner, Massachusetts. She joins a growing list of Massachusetts clergy pledging not to sign state marriage licenses. ... "The one thing it really lets me do is live with my conscience," she said after signing the pledge and informing her congregation. Most of the ministers who have signed are affiliated with the Unitarian faith.
